YO MUSTAFA

Artistic Director and Instructor

Yilmaz (Yo) Mustafa is an award-winning theatre director, actor, and instructor. He graduated from the Sheridan College Theatre program in 1981 and completed the one-year acting master class at the HB Studio in New York City.

Yo has been teaching drama since the early 1980s. He was also awarded the Dora Mavor Moore Award for best supporting actor for his performance in the W.E.S.T. production of Fortune & Men's Eyes.

He has directed many theatrical productions, including The Laramie Project, It's A Wonderful Life, HAIR, Fiddler On The Roof, Oliver!, GREASE, Come Back to Five and Dime Jimmy Dean, Amadeus, Cat On A Hot Tin Roof, Steel Magnolias, and Blood Brothers.

His theatre acting credits include: Romeo in Romeo & Juliet for the Young People's Theatre, Hosanna in Hosanna for W.E.S.T., Mungojerrie in CATS (original Canadian production at the Elgin Theatre), Eugene in Brighton Beach Memoirs for C.V.D.S., Hercule Poirot in Black Coffee for W.E.S.T., Garson in Norman, Is That You? for W.E.S.T., Serge in Art, Joseph Merrick in The Elephant Man, and the Emcee in Cabaret for W.E.S.T..

Susan Applewhaite graduated from Corona Academy of Dramatic Arts in London, England, where she won the LAMDA Gold Medal for Acting. She studied jazz, modern and ballet, receiving the Royal Academy Elementary Certificate. She studied voice in London and Toronto and has sung on recordings with some of the most respected Canadian producers.

 

Susan works in theatre, television, and film. She has been a teacher and choreographer in London and Toronto. For the past twenty years, Susan has been a delighted member of the W.E.S.T. family.
